The World Heritage Map, released each year in English by UNESCO World Heritage Centre in Paris, has been published in Korean for the first time by the Korean National Commission for UNESCO (KNCU).  

The world map points out a total of 936 world heritage sites around the world, including 10 sites in Korea such as Changdeokgung in Seoul and Bulguk Temple in Gyeongju.

A total of 30,000 copies have been printed and distributed to more than 200 locations in Korea, including the World Heritage sites and related organizations.

“This publication will help Korean speakers with their understanding of World Heritage,” said Chun Taeck-soo, KNCU’s secretary-general.

“This is the first non-U.N. official language version of the World Heritage Map, which has been published annually since 2002.”

The Korea National Commission for UNESCO and Asiana Airlines signed a bilateral agreement last February to promote World Heritage.
