South Korea's top home appliance manufacturers said Tuesday that their three-dimensional (3D) smart TVs have won eco-friendly certifications from leading European technical service review organizations.
Samsung Electronics Co. said its flagship 55-inch ES8000 model won TUV Rheinland Group's coveted Green Mark for energy efficiency and low carbon emissions in the production stage.
It added its Italian office was lauded for having the best environmentally friendly operations in 2012 by Amici della Terra, a local member of Friends of the Earth International.
LG Electronics Inc. also said its Cinema 47LM7600 3D smart TV won the TUV Rheinland's Green Mark as well as getting the Climatop Label in Switzerland for its low power consumption.
The two tech giants said that winning the certificates raised their overall brand recognition and make their products more appealing to environment-conscious consumers in European countries. (Yonhap News)
