Players of a British soccer club showed some skin to attract a new shirt sponsor.

The manager of Yeovil Town F.C. in the League One ordered his players to take an annual team picture, topless.

“If we haven’t got a shirt sponsor then we can’t wear the shirt,” Gary Johnson, the club manager, said.

The previous sponsor decided to end its deal with the club and the team has yet to secure another, so Johnson convinced players to join the stunt.

“There’s been a lot of interest but we need to make sure they are paying the right sort of money to be on our shirt,” he said.

Players seemed to enjoy the idea.

“When it got mentioned, a lot of the lads ran straight into the gym to get on the bench press,” striker Reuben Reid said. “It was quite funny for the lads.”

영국 3부 리그 소속의 예오빌 타운 F.C.의 감독은 매년 시즌 전에 촬영하는 단체사진에서 선수들에게 상의 셔츠를 입지 말고 촬영하도록 했다.

이유는 이전까지 이 팀을 후원해주던 후원사가 다가 오는 시즌부터 스폰서 계약을 연장하지 않기로 했기 때문. 결국 이 팀의 감독은 현재 협상 중인 잠재 후원사들에게 확신을 주기 위해 선수들까지 불러들여 이러한 사진을 촬영하게 된 것이다.

이에 대해 선수들도 새로운 경험에 즐거워했다 한다.

팀에서 공격수를 맡고 있는 루벤 레이드는 “사진 촬영 얘기가 나오자, 모든 선수들이 근육을 만들기 위해 체육관으로 달려갔다,” 라고 전하며 “모두에게 즐거운 시간이었다,” 고 말했다.
