Eleven artists from the Korean indie-rock scene will pay tribute to the 50th anniversary of the most recognized rock and roll legends of all time: John, Paul, George and Ringo.

“Singing the Beatles” is a special two-day event celebrating the revolutionary band that needs no introduction and who John Lennon himself described as “more popular than Jesus.”

“The Beatles … what more of an explanation do you need?” said the band members of the alternative rock group the Moonshiners.

“It’s not about whether or not you like the Beatles,” said the members of the band Why Not. “It’s about the influence that these extraordinary musicians have.”

The first show of this commemorative event will be on Friday, Nov. 2, and will feature performances by the Moonshiners, Jang Jae-in, Windy City and the Mentles. They are all set to rock the stage with their versions of 17 classic Beatles hits including “Here Comes the Sun,” “Come Together” and “Revolution.”

The second show the following night will showcase 18 hits including “I Wanna Hold your Hand,” “Across the Universe” and “Hey Jude.” This night will feature the line-up of Kingston Rudiska, Yozoh, Why Not, the Tatles, Yoon Han, Han Dong-joon and the Korean Beatles tribute band the Lee Do-hee Project.

“The Beatles to us are like air,” said the musicians of the tribute band. “By no means could we have lived without them.”

The two-day event will be held at the Mapo Art Center with Friday’s show beginning at 8 p.m. and Saturday’s show starting at 6 p.m.
