The biggest group of expatriate women in South Korea said Friday it will hold an annual bazaar in November in Seoul as part of its charity fundraising activities.

The Seoul International Women's Association (SIWA) said it plans to hold a one-day bazaar on Nov. 10 at the 63 Convention Center, located in Yeouido, the country's key financial district.

More than 40 embassies, women's clubs, welfare agencies and volunteers will join the event to sell a variety of items spanning from unique goods to cultural products from all over the world, it added. Cultural performances and cuisine events will also take place.

The bazaar has raised more than 2 billion won (US$1.9 million) so far since 1970 and the proceeds from the event are used to support different charities in South Korea through the SIWA welfare program, the group added.

At this year's event, the group hopes to raise money that is at least similar to that of last year, which stood at some 127 million won, it noted. Last year, the proceeds were distributed to more than 30 South Korean charity groups.

Along with the wives of ambassadors to Seoul, the wife of Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon will attend the bazaar, the SIWA said. (Yonhap)
