The agencies of K-pop star BoA and actor Joo Won on Wednesday confirmed reports the two are in a romantic relationship.
Earlier in the day, a local media outlet reported the two had been dating since late 2016. They reportedly met via a shared acquaintance.
Confirming the reports, BoA’s agency S.M. Entertainment said in an official statement the two had “grown fond of each other through shared interests such as music and acting.”
Joo Won’s agency Huayi Brothers also confirmed the reports, although it declined to comment on specifics.

BoA is one of first South Korean artists to be trained and marketed for both overseas and local markets. She has become popular in both Korea and Japan and recently expanded her scope to include acting.
Joo Won started his acting career as a musical actor in 2006, which is when he started using his stage name “Joo Won” instead of his real name, Moon Jun-won. He is best known for starring in popular Korean TV dramas, including “King of Baking, Kim Takgu,” “Bridal Mask” and “Ojakgyo Family.”
