North Korea's oil prices and exchange rates have shown no changes despite its nuclear and missile tests and the international community's sanctions, a US broadcaster reported Tuesday, citing a western diplomat stationed in Pyongyang.

There has been no noticeable changes in overall oil prices in Pyongyang before and after the North's nuclear test on Sept. 3, Voice of America quoted the diplomat as saying in an email.

Gasoline and diesel were sold for $0.90 and $1.01 per kilogram, respectively, as of Aug. 12, and the prices are the same now, according to the diplomat.

The remark goes against some earlier media reports that oil prices are soaring in Pyongyang amid the UN Security Council's move to impose additional sanctions against the nuclear test.

The North Korean won's exchange rate also reportedly remains stable. Its rate was 8,000 won to the greenback as of Friday, according to the broadcaster. (Yonhap)
